Dogs are, indeed, man’s best friend. These friendly creatures are not only cuddly and sweet but also a great help. They guard your house against intruders and other trouble due to their keen senses. Which is what the Butler family dog Zippy did a few days ago.
A Jack Russell Terrier from Florida is being hailed a hero after he saved his entire family from a house fire before he could been rescued.
It was 2 am on Tuesday morning The Butler family were fast asleep in their home in Bradenton when a blaze broke out in their attic.
As the fire spread through the family’s home, the alarm did ring – but only for a short while. It only lasted a short ‘beep beep’ and then it was already on fire. It was gone.
The blaze raged on, consuming the furniture and setting the ceiling alight – and the family was none the wiser after their faulty alarm stopped.
Enter the superhero: Zippy the dog. Sensing the danger around him, he ran around the house, barking like crazy, in a bid to alert his family to the fire.
“He was a part of the fire alarm, he was barking,” Butler said. His father adopted the dog from the Humane Society of Manatee County for Butler’s kids. “We just made it out the door while everything was collapsing, with a big plume of black smoke fire was everywhere.”
